Cookie policy
This page describes storage on your device when you use truecanadavest.net. It matches what the site actually does.
1. What cookies are
A cookie is a small text file a site can ask the browser to keep and send back later. Local storage is a separate place in the browser where a script can save a short string that is not automatically sent to the server with every request. Both are “storage on this device.”
2. What this site stores
The site does not set a cookie of its own. A script writes two keys in local storage after you respond to on-page notices:
eduNoticeAck— set when you continue past, or dismiss, the educational notice. Value:1.cookieConsent— set when you choose Accept or Decline on the storage notice. Values:acceptedordeclined.
3. Necessary storage
Those two keys are the only site-controlled storage. They exist so the notices do not open again on every visit. They are not used to identify you across other sites.
4. Analytics
No analytics cookie is set. No analytics script is loaded.
5. Advertising
No advertising cookie is set. No advertising script is loaded.
6. Third parties
Font files are requested from Google Fonts. That network may use its own technical cookies or logs when the browser fetches the files. We do not read those cookies, and we do not add a second tracker of our own. We do not embed third-party content players or social buttons.
7. Managing storage
Use the Accept and Decline buttons on the notice. Decline still stores the choice so the banner stays closed. To remove the keys, clear site data for truecanadavest.net in your browser. The notices will show again on the next visit.
8. Browser settings
Every major browser lets you block cookies, block third-party cookies, or clear storage for one site. Blocking cookies does not remove local storage by itself; use the site-data or “cookies and site data” control for this domain. The pages remain readable if both are blocked. The notices may then appear on each visit, because the script cannot remember your answer.
9. Consent mechanism
On a first visit the educational notice opens. After you close it, the storage notice appears. If you have already acknowledged the educational notice, only the storage notice appears, about one second after the page loads. Your click is written to cookieConsent. There is no separate advertising consent, because no advertising cookie exists.
10. If you decline or disable storage
The atlas, the notes, and the contact form still work. We do not gate reading on consent. If storage is blocked entirely, we simply cannot remember that you closed the notices.
11. Retention
Local-storage keys stay until you clear them or until the browser drops site data. We do not set an expiry on the server, because the values never leave your browser as part of our own scripts. This page is current as of 2026.
